Just easier.

As you might guess, this proposal started out as the thought "How can we
improve the svndumpfilter process to the point where it's actually
useable?" This lead naturally to the realization that svndumpfilter
itself need not be involved.

Now, here I was going to insert the obligatory quote from Heinlein's
"Glory Road", but to my surprise

   search://"electric fence without the fence"/

turns out to be a phrase Googlewhack. Hmm, guess who's not in the
Google Book Search database yet?
