Thanks for your enthusiasm to do it Right - that's really good to hear.

As for "subversion/include/private/svn_opt.h (new file)?" - yes, I think that's
the right place. (There are some private symbols with "__" inside some of the
public header files, but that's from before we invented the "include/private/"
directory.)

[Off-topic] As for the "show C function names" feature I use in my diff, I have
always used external GNU diff with that option, but actually I objected to that
feature being included in Subversion's built-in diff because it's so specific
to one kind of user (and also the algorithm is as crude as it is in GNU diff,
so be wary of the results). But enough people found it useful enough to want a
built-in implementation.
