mime types for XHTML that begin with 'application/'

The MIME types ‘application/xml’ and ‘application/xhtml+xml’ are allowed for use with XHTML documents [1]. If I set the SVN property ‘svn:mime-type’ of an XHTML document to ‘application/xhtml+xml’, Subversion will treat the file as a binary file. At least that’s what the svn command reports when I run it on 1.4.6 on Windows Vista.

I’d like to log an enhancement/bug for this. Is there any strategic reason why this couldn’t be supported eventually?
