Face-lift for web site front page

Anyone not busy with v1.5 able to give the Subversion web sites a face-lift?

Although plenty could be done inside too, it would be particularly nice to see
the front pages refreshed to give a better introduction to newcomers and a
clearer interface to those seeking particular information.

Here are my personal wishes. As usual, send proposals to the list for approval.

FRONT PAGE OF <http://subversion.tigris.org>

Goal 1: Quick orientation for newcomers. Just a few lines, with links.

   - What's the scope of this tool/company/website you call "Subversion"? How
does it relate to other VCS's, Windows/Unix, SCM tools, Tortoise/Eclipse?

   - Make obvious it's open-source software, because although it says so the
site layout doesn't necessarily give that impression.

   - State the site's status (hosted non-commercial); refer to subversion.org
for further info on relationship between web sites and organisations.

Goal 2: Easy navigation for all types of info that a reader might want (even
where we don't have anything much to say), for both new and experienced users.

   - Easy quick links (including off-site) to:

       - About: Why would I use it? How? What can it do?
       - Show me the Source!
       - Download: Binaries, Source, TortoiseSVN and other add-ons.
       - Documentation: book, FAQ, Wiki, etc.
       - Get help: search; make a wish; ask a question.
       - I want to help: report a bug; development; testing; write add-ons.
       - Commercial use: How to buy? License? How to persuade my boss?

   - What's on this site (briefly); guide to the (poor) menu; improve the menu.

   - Existing "Subversion's Features" section: a much reduced version of it
here, and a much improved version elsewhere.

FRONT PAGE OF <http://subversion.org>

   - Look more like a project home page than a placeholder. Say "Yes, you've
found Subversion. Welcome! For the following types of information go to
subversion.tigris.org: ..."

   - Don't make such a big deal of the Corporation: that's an aspect of the
project that's not of primary interest to many visitors.

   - Explain briefly the status and relationships between:
     - subversion.tigris.org
     - subversion.org
     - subversion.com
     - CollabNet
     - Polarion
     - other companies that sell support or packages
     - companies that provide hosting
