Sorry about that. I know the submission guidelines. But my original
mail was an attempt to try to spot the problem, and formulate it in
code to make it more clear and kick off a discussion.

I didn't expect it to end up being committed as is. Then Michael asked
me to put [PATCH] in the subject and I did so but forgot about the log
message.
