Yeah, but unless you have a *really* nice notebook, I suspect the
collab.net server is a little beefier. Plus, you didn't say anything
about what OS/filesystem you are running locally.

I just mentioned sharding because that was a big code change that
affected FSFS; if the code to test for sharded repo is slowing a hot
path, that could neatly explain your symptoms.
