Well, how is "staging repository" different from "staging area of main
repository", in this case?

I'm not arguing that Subversion is a distributed system -- I'm just
saying that what I need here is not a distributed system. If I wanted
to keep my patches private to myself while working on them for a long
time, *then* I'd do better with a natively distributed system.
