Please inform a hapless soul here. I've got a clue what SSL is used
for, but not so much for TLS.

I've only heard of TLS used inside e-mail protocols like SMTP and POP.
 Can it provide the https support for subversion over DAV? Will it
work with existing SSL infrastructure?
