I think the real use would need to be based on a given file entity. A
replacement means it is a new file/path entity. (And a replacement that
comes from elsewhere would need to show that etymology...)

Things get a bit blurry when you start talking about merges...

So, while I actually stated that this may be useful to reduce server load,
it is not 100% valid, but it can very much be a benefit. I just don't know
yet if it covers enough cases to make satisfy the "actual" needs (rather than
some theoretical "complete solution" which is a bit more than I want to deal
with and may not be what Subversion 1.x can do.)
