Status of perl-bindings-improvements branch?

Hi Nik and John,

A few months ago you started working on the perl-bindings-improvements
branch. I've been distracted from the svn world and haven't been
reviewing things like I had hoped to, but I definitely remember seeing
a lot of good-looking improvements to documentation, API coverage,
testing, and usability (keyword arguments, etc).

What's the current status? Is it in a state where it would make sense
to merge it back to trunk (even if it's not necessarily done) and
continue working there? Especially with the recent big changes to
trunk (sparse directories, merge tracking), it would be great to get
these improvements tested with the latest and greatest as soon as
possible.
