Good idea

What's the extra cost of releasing 1.5 now and 1.6 in 6 months when
merge-tracking is ready? I mean, we have to inform people about the
consequences of releasing 1.5 now, so they can make an informed
decision, and we get a meaningful result out of it.

What I see as (negative) consequences:
- when 1.6 is released, we may have to stop maintaining 1.4
- 1.6 will be released later because of the overhead of releasing 1.5
(would be nice if we had an estimate on the delay)
- there is no *big* feature in the 1.5 release, so a lot of people will
skip it altogether
