("svn ci aborts if it encounters the root directory"). It's fixed in
trunk, but not in 1.4.x. If you are able to recompile trunk, it might

If it's working for you and you don't have any other programs that use
Subversion's libraries, sure. Be aware that trunk is nowhere near as
well-tested as 1.4.x, even for the non-new features.
