A newbie to svn programming

Hi,

I am completely new to subversion or its api. I am having a little bit of
problem trying to figure out which side is up with its programming API. I am
hoping to find a getting started guide for dumb newbies of some sort. I
checked the svn trunk but could not find an examples folder. I am planning
to write a new client or rather integrate svn to our bigger product with C
API. I also looked at Rapid SVN's C++ API. A document or a some sort of
quick code example would really help. Python code examples would also be
very helpful.
