I was under the impression that this feature is not used in any
important apps
these days. It was for Cairo that never happened and of course using
a windows
file server to host Mac files.

Any file with named streams is easy to destroy simple by copying it
between
drives. If you use the wrong copy tool the named stream will not be
copied
and if you copy to a FAT disk the named stream is lost as well.
