(It turns out that the hotel in Romania recently started offering free
WiFi 'Net access.)

I lean towards the approach I took, too. But I can't vouch for the
completeness of that patch (and haven't really the time to make sure
it's up-to-speed). I'm confident that Mathias will do the right thing,
though.
