It was "validly +1-ed" because you held us off from rolling a release.
 If you hadn't rushed ahead and committed and then proposed it for
backport then we would have had a 1.4.0-rc5 24 hours before those
votes happened. Face it Max, you decided that you were right, and
then based on the assumption that people would agree with you you
pushed it through. Now it turns out that people don't necessarily
agree with you.
