And one that I would very much like to see discussed at the summit. It's
already in the agenda. :)

In fact, from my point of view, implementing the answer to this question
(whatever is is) and fixing the design bugs in our public API should be
one of the three main goals for svn-2.0.

(The other two are: invent a working copy that actually works and
performs well, and come up with a repository schema that's actually
suited to the way SVN wants to do version control. But this is already
off-topic ...)
