Update: way behind schedule but getting back on track!

Hello everyone!

Due to some personal issues, I've been off the radar lately, and haven't
been putting the necessary time into my Summer of Code project. As
such, I'm now quite a bit behind schedule. In fact, I *still* don't
have anything new that's ready for commit.

However, I'm back now and have discussed things with djames; he
recommended that I rework the schedule and post a revised version here.
  I will also post some what I've got on the client in a separate
message, but it's not much and as mentioned, it's NOT ready to go in.

Nonetheless, I left myself a lot of stretch in the original schedule, so
there's still time to reasonably complete the proposal if I step up the
pace a bit. Here goes nothing...

The original schedule was:
    * May 23: Baton/Callback patch
    * May 24-Jun 21: Client
    * Jun 14-28: Delta
    * Jun 29-Jul 13: Working Copy
    * Jul 14-Aug 21: Developer documentation, refinement, performance
analysis/optimization, test coverage check, bugfixes as needed

The new and not-so-improved schedule looks like this:
    * May 23-Jun 4: Baton/Callback patch
    * Jun 4-14: Initial Client work
    * Jun 15-Jul 09: Unexpected hiatus
    * Jul 10-18: Finish Client
    * Jul 19-31: Delta
    * Aug 1-14: Working Copy
    * Aug 15-21: Developer documentation, refinement, test coverage
check, bugfixes as needed

Now then, back to making that patch presentable...

-Walter
