This looks suspiciously like the Debian rpath patch; I assume at some
point Debian and Fedora cross-pollinated. As such, you might look at
our current version:

  svn cat \
  svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-subversion/branches/1.4.x/debian/patches/rpath

which does a bit more magic, related to removing rpaths from the Apache
and Perl modules as well, for the same reasons. I don't know if you
need those on Red Hat, but I suspect the issues are the same.

(Obviously I'm not saying blindly apply my patch, just that it's
something to look at.)
