Speaking as a person who once tried to implement a generator for APR's
.dsp/vcproj files, it's not so much "went in a different direction" as
"failed to go in a direction at all". I never finished because at the
time I couldn't get a windows person to test my changes, and I didn't
have a windows build environment. Nobody else has picked it up since
then, although I keep telling myself I'll do it eventually...
