Personally rather liked the old style, and appealed for it to be
reinstated over on swig-devel. The SWIG developers didn't seem
wonderfully receptive about the idea, and no-one else associated with
Subversion seems as annoyed about the deprecation as I am....

Do we have consensus to acquiesce to SWIG's ruling, and change to ifdefs?
