Outcome of discussion about labels vs. tags

Dear all,

I just join the list.

Long time ago, there's an interesting discussion about labels vs. tags on
this list (see

362). But then I don't see any follow up. Can anyone please let me know the
outcome of the discussion? Is there any decision on whether such a feature
will be implemented?
