That's what happens when you ignore the log receiver error. =) (I
haven't gotten to the log tests yet.)

Anyhow, please try out r19062 - it fixes this for me locally. Now, it
still reads the entire network response - I need to figure out the
best way to pass up the error that will abort the read - but it now
won't call the receiver after it returns an error - so the crashing
bit should be mitigated.
