SQL as a backing store?

I'm interested in using a real SQL database as a backing store for SVN. I
searched the mailing list archives, and there are several threads on this,
all rather old. My reading of these threads is that it's a desirable
feature, but that there hasn't been much motion on it for a long time.

What is the interest level in this? I'm considering doing my own
implementation, but before I did, I wanted to put out feelers and see if
anyone else wanted this, or was working on this.
