Mine was FSFS, 97285 commits total.

Agreed, it doesn't seem to be related - I've since reproduced this on
a smallish (FSFS) repository (4063 commits) which was never imported
from CVS.

Hope this helps. I'll try and investigate the server some more soon.
We plan to upgrade to 1.3.0 on the server soon, so I'll see if that
affects this problem.
