hi david,

thx for the reply :-)

hmmm ... cached somewhere perhaps? cuz i'm *sure* i rm'd the /usr/local/swig dir ...

EXTRAclean? who knew?

i've been using the "usual" 'make DISTclean' :-|

curious; other than this thread:

        http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2005-10/0091.shtml

is extraclean documented anywhere? no mention at all in "configure", and not _much_ in the src
tree :-{

iiuc, extraclean return to a pre-autogen.sh state ... clear.

tho, i'd have thought that rerunning autogen after a distclean (which i did) should clear all
such headers, cached or otherwise, no?

anyway, working ...

... and, voila! "make swig-rb" completes w/o error. gr8, thx!

a suggestion:

should/could a SWIG version check be placed into the ./configure code? perhaps recommending a
"make extraclean" if there's a problem detected?

shouldn't be tough, and given the apparent point-release sensitivity, might be helpful ... as
is, e.g.:

        --enable-neon-version-check \

now, off to install and run checks ...

thanks again!

richard
