Depending on exactly how inherited properties behave, walk-up should be
exactly the same as inheritance, except that:

   - this is just a new way to fetch ordinary properties, so the existing
   tools for examining and changing properties are enough to manage them
   - you must ask for the walk-up behavior explicitly when you retrieve
   the value, whereas with inherited properties the search is kind of implicit.
