I worry that adding an auto-subst of repository roots will not be enough
to justify the cost. We'll still suck compared to CVS in this area
(still much more typing for a diff against a branch) and we'll have
added another little exception to the command-line syntax so that you
have to do something special when you want to refer to a file which
starts with a '+' or whatever.

In http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2005-05/1367.shtml I outlined a more
complicated proposal which saves significantly more typing. I'm not
sure it's a good idea, but I do think we should be aiming higher than
just repository root substitution.
