I'm +1 on this. The change our secret neighbors will have to make is
very simple, and while it causes a minor annoyance at modification time,
it does solve a major annoyance of the people with large working
copies. And our non-secret neighbors will get a warning ping during the
RC soak, which should give them plenty time to adapt if they so wish.
