Ph. Marek, please note that when a software designer asks questions like these,
he doesn't just want to know what your code actually does, he wants to know
what is the intended behaviour (and why) so that we can first agree on and
document the intended behaviour and then test a particular implementation to
see whether it correctly implements this behaviour.

Just in case that wasn't clear. (I have sometimes seen people respond with
answers like "In that circumstance it does X, as you can see by trying it,"
which isn't useful.)
