This makes me think that certain generic options should be accepted by svn
for any subcommand.

Obvious ones are --username and --password. --help could be handled as part
of the same framework, instead of being a special exception as it is now.

--non-recursive and --recursive, too, probably.

--encoding, --verbose, and --quiet are also candidates.

Obviously, they would only show up in the help listings for commands they
actually affect.
