Erik tried to get svnserve to not translate its messages. We didn't find a
way that works on all platforms. OTOH, never set LANG=C on the client. You
should at least have a LC_CTYPE that can support the characters you use.
If you don't want the server to translate messages, you need to arrang
that the environment has LC_MESSAGES=C.
