Tossing the version number is fine with me... It eliminates the need for
renaming the files and eliminates kfogel's issue with not being able to
allow anyone to test them.

Yup, I'd just like to expand the +1 to being a GPG signature. Helps
fulfill my wish for multiple sigs.
