Oddly enough, this feature request came from Justin, not Julian.
Which means that Justin alone gets to decide what is and isn't
"needed", "ridiculous", and "intelligent". Further, I implemented
this as a patch -- you're not obligated to apply it or like it. So,
with all due respect:
