A start has been made to translate the book. It's even in the Subversion
repository at
http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/doc/translations/german/. There have
been no commits since June 30 though, so I have no idea if it's still
actively translated.

Maybe you can contact Gerhard Oettl or Karl Heinz Marbaise to see if you can
help. You should be able find their e-mail addresses in the COMMITTERS file
in the top of the source tree.

Well, I have no idea, about urgency, but any contribution is welcome...

At least two :-) and they already started.

That's why we prefer to have at least 3 translators per book translation.
