Yes. As I said, the main package need not depend on anything beyond apr
and apr-util. The FS module for the BDB back end would live in a
separate package.

I have little Debian knowledge. (In general, if someone answers half of
your question, it's more likely that they don't know the answer to the
other half than that they just missed it.)
