What would help us (and probably you) is if you step through your reproduction
recipe and note the ownership of the db/* files at each step (not just after it
has broken). What you describe is a classic permissions problem; there may be
something subtly different for this one repository.

This project does not use the issue tracker to log all possible bugs (unlike
some other projects). Someone will ask you to create an issue iff the feeling
is that this is a genuine, reproducible bug, not just a possible bug.
