Nice! We could do that. At the very least it's attractive as a
workaround right now.

Currently, dist.sh looks for "dev build" and filters it out, meaning
one less thing for the releaser to worry about. That's handy -- it's
nice if the releaser only has to tweak the release numbers, and not
worry about the whole dev-vs-non-dev build thing, which can be wholly
automated by dist.sh.
