I'd like to keep the SWIG/Java bindings around for a while longer in hopes
that I someday find time to work on them again. It's a lower barrier for me
if I don't have to constantly resurrect them. I wouldn't be comopletely
adverse to moving them to a branch, but I'm unconvinced of the benefit of that.
