Although I like the work done very much and I have been using some of the
results without problems, I don't feel confident enough - like with the javahl
bindings - to vote for or against changes this big.

From IRC I understood you would like this one added for - amongst others -
the FreeBSD maintainer who could then support the WITH_PERL / WITH_PYTHON
mechanisms. I'm kind of +0 on that. (Will put that in the Status file later)
