I agree. The point of having the branch exist for a week is so that it
can "stabilize". Stabilize doesn't mean "avoid all commits no matter
what." It means, "no new features or large code changes."

In the case of javahl, it's not a new feature at all. It's just a
matter of "catching up" the java bindings with the C API. Nor is it
even a code-change to the "core" C libraries. In my opinion, this is
*exactly* the sort of low-risk change that we would put into the release
branch.

It's a perfect example of the reason we're allowing the branch to exist
for a week before releasing... if we had released last Wednesday (as we
used to do), then this exactly one of those silly, annoying loose-ends
that wouldn't have made it into the tarball.
