Actually,

Brane, I had read the reference on BDB about networked files.

At first blush it appeared that SQLite didn't have the same fault.

Then, I found a similar caveat but not as strongly worded for SQLite.

It appears exclusive write access semantics must be supported. Not just the
mmap'ing of said networked files.

Which brings us right back to where we started.
