The *revision* numbers that you are looking for are tags in Subversion.
Tags are just directories. Much more expansive and flexible than the
draconian archetype enforced by CVS and the like.

I have 4 projects in one repos. I actually like not being tied to the file
revision. :) I didn't when I started.
