Because if I didn't, we'd obviously be in for a nasty surprise one of
these days. The thing that the 1.0 APR will be backward-compatible with
the 0.9.x APR, as long as we don't use funcitons that are deprecated in
0.9. And IIRC we don't, so that's O.K.

BTW, I don't test against httpd on those test boxes.
