I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. I don't see a
"time bomb" waiting to happen. This is not a make-or-break
life-threatening event in the history of Subversion.

Here's what I see:

   On one side, a principle of interoperability.

   On the other side, a single bug in *one* aspect of *one* IDE for
   *one* operating system.

I don't think it's worth compromising our design principles here. The
sky is not falling.
