Release schedule

Hi, I just got back from a meeting with my dev team and management. We've
been testing subversion for a while, with mixed popularity. I was asked
about the future of subversion, and I realized that I'm not entirely clear
on the plans...

People here talk about "going beta" and "1.0". Are these different? What
kind of time frames are being considered? Is there going to be a "feature
freeze" sometime soon?

We're planning on a lock-down of our development environment at the start of
December, any ideas what state subversion will be in at that time?
