Mac OS libtool / glibtool?

We Macophiles have a small bit of trouble rebuilding SVN, because the
installed libtool can not be persuaded to use the freshly built
shared libraries instead of the installed ones (we have to remove the
installed ones before building new ones). The Apache
README.platforms mentions that the Apple-installed libtool is icky,
but that there's a glibtool also installed that does the right thing
(details of what's wrong or right are not mentioned). And indeed, I
do have a glibtool installed. Do we know whether this glibtool
would work more gracefully than the installed one for us?
