so it appears that it is possible to turn it on, but you cannot use it!

And even if you somehow used exclusively the POSIX interface, see this link:

Yes, that's right! The only way to recover from this is the backup the drive
sans the offending files, reformat and reinstall!

Apparently, this is what M$loth considers POSIX compatibility!
