Compressed text-base, take 2

Ok, here's a new and improved version of the compressed text-base
patch. It's in pretty good shape, it passes the vast majority of the
test suite (and I know some of the tests it fails are the test's
fault, not mine :) but please don't apply it yet. I still need to
implement real gzip files, not the current compressed streams that are
there right now, and fix up where I still fail tests (any patches of
course appreciated).

I decided not to put a compressed property in the entries file, since
I think it's more flexible this way (ie, you will be able to go into
the .svn/text-base dir and gzip * and it will just work), and putting
it in the entries would further complicate the code IMHO. But if there
are still advantages I'm not seeing, I'm all ears.

Of course suggestions, and comments are appreciated, I'm hoping to
have an appliable version this weekend.
