Blast! I *knew* there'd be a catch. I overlooked that SetConsoleCP was
unsupported on non-NT machines. Am now chargning my Staff of Zot to fry
those imbeciles at Microsoft who decided that console I/O functions
should use a different character encoding than every other Win32 module.

Sorry, I can't think of a workaround (except to ditch Win98 and move to
NT/2k/XP, but that's probably unacceptable). This is something that has
to be fixed in the Subversion code, and I'm not sure I have the nerves
to go rummaging in that mess again.
